Jon Rahm Wins the Mexico Open

Jon Rahm broke his cold streak by winning The Mexico Open by one shot over Brandon Wu, Tony Finau, and Kurt Kitayama. This was his first victory since he won the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines last season. Although this tournament came down to the very end and produced an exciting finish, a star-studded field was severely lacking in Mexico. Since winning the U.S. Open, Rahm had held the number one player in the world spot before Scottie Scheffler came along and took that away. He now holds second in the world. This win is a much-needed momentum push that should spring home forward heading into the bulk of the season. Let us know what you thought about this event, the field, and Rahm’s win in the comments!

Marina Alex Wins the Palos Verdes Championship

Marina Alex is a 31-year-old New Jersey native who before this weekend, had one win on the LPGA Tour, which came in Portland in 2018. This win was monumental for her and her first since being out of golf due to an injury. Since 2018, she has been battling through the covid breaks and a painful herniated disk in her back that took her out of competition until earlier this season. She came back from this injury looking better than ever and it’s clear that she has been working hard to get back on top again. Keith was not surprised to see her win this week and had his eyes on her heading into the event. As Marina was heading into her back nine, the number one player in the world, Jin Young Ko, was finishing her round with the clubhouse lead of (-9). Marina Alex knew exactly what she needed to do to maintain her lead. She carefully dissected the course and made birdies wherever she could and avoided bogeys at all costs. A two-putt par on the 18th hole for a final round of 66 was enough to get the win by one shot and put her back on top again. We will be looking out for her in future events!

Golf Betting in Modern Times

If you were as confident in Marina Alex as Keith was and decided to place a $1 bet on her this week at the Palo Verdes Championship, you would have come home with $90 due to her 90/1 odds. With the popularity of sports betting rising at unprecedented rates over the past several years, golf is one sport that has been seemingly overlooked. With a sport that has had gambling engrained within it since its inception, the betting market for golfers is endless. With the number of players in each field and the wide variety of prop bets available now, it’s never been more exciting to bet on golf. You can make bets on players going head-to-head, their scores for certain rounds, and much more.
