Nasa Hataoko Wins the LPGA DIO Implant Open
Nasa Hataoko added to her long list of achievements in her short career over the past week by dominating at the DIO Implant Open in Los Angeles. She ended her final round in style by making an eagle on the final hole to win the tournament by five shots which put her on a list of top LPGA players without a major win but we won’t be surprised to see her grab a major soon. Adding to the dramatics of this event was the number one player in the world, Jin Young Ko who was only two shots back on Nasa Hataoko on Saturday when her ball fell into a tough position behind a cement wall. She decided to attempt the shot not once, but twice, hitting the wall both times and making an eight on the hole to effectively take her out of contention. Are you a risk-taker on the course or are you dropping out of a tough situation? We’d love to hear your ‘Tin Cup’ stories!
Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffle Win the Zurich Classic
We were once again pleased to see a much-anticipated team event come back around on the PGA Tour this weekend with the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. As golf fans, a tournament like this is a refreshing change of pace. By the end of the day Saturday, Cantlay, and Schauffle had set a new 54-hole scoring record of -27 par and were leading by a commanding five shots. On Sunday, we were surprised to see this lead quickly diminish, leaving them only one shot ahead of Sam Burns and Billy Horschel with seven holes to play. Patrick and Xander were able to hold onto the lead and earn themselves the Zurich Classic belts. Even though these two have seen a lot of success in the recent past, this was a breakthrough win for them this season. Cantlay has lost in two playoffs already this season so a win over the weekend is a huge confidence boost heading into the summer. We’re expecting to see him keep that momentum rolling over the next few months. If you had to choose a walk-up song next time you step on the first tee, what would you choose?
Greg Norman’s 30 for 30 Documentary and the Newest Edition of ‘The Match’
Adding to the excitement of the weekend, ESPN released their newest episode of 30 for 30 which revisited Greg Norman’s rise to fame in the golf world and his devastating loss at the 1996 Masters tournament. Once again, ESPN did a fantastic job of bringing us inside the mind of Greg Norman for one of golf’s iconic moments. This is a must-watch for any golf fan.
Speaking of ‘must-watch’ golf TV, ‘The Match’ franchise introduced the newest edition of this series which features Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Josh Allen and is set to air on June 1st. The selections for this event are always under speculation and debate. Adam and Keith both gave this announcement a big thumbs down; what are your thoughts?
